Inaugural MASH Barrel Project Kicks Off

Eleven MASH members who brewed the same imperial stout recipe came together on Aug. 2 to make their homebrew something greater.

Keg by keg, the beer — all 53 gallons of it — were filled into a Heaven Hill bourbon barrel.

The beer recipe was created by Karl Weiss, who based the recipe on a scaled-down version of Kane Brewing Company’s Night to End All Dawns.

Barrel Project brewers include: Paul Buckley, Stephen Cosgrove, Tom Jambor, Chris Johnson, Rob Giaquinta, Mike Patterson, Sean O’Connell, Todd Townsend and Joe Vitale, Doug Vohden, and Karl Weiss.
