February Meeting – Bootleg Biology

For our Feburary meeting, MASH will be hosting our very first cyber guest! Jeff Mello from Bootleg Biology will be joining us through a video call to teach us about the Local Yeast Project.

The french call it “terroir”, Bootleg Biology calls it the Local Yeast Project. Bootleg Biology is the first organization to pioneer the collection and cultivation of official local yeast strains for every U.S. postal code and country across the globe, beginning with the original S. Arlingtonesis.

If you want to make a truly local beer, you’ve got to have a local yeast. And with that local yeast you can make a beer with a taste and aroma that is totally unique to where you live or travel. Every region across the globe is chock full of unique and wild yeast ready and willing to make a lunch out of your barley sugar.

Join MASH and Bootleg Biology as we learn all about the Local Yeast Project and discuss how to get involved and become a local yeast wrangler.

Club Elections

Do you want to be a member of the 2016 MASH Board? Now is the time to throw your hat in the ring!

The MASH Board has existed since the very beginning. The Board meets monthly in order to plan monthly meetings, facilitate the great MASH events, coordinate membership and oversee MASH Committees.

The Board is made up of five members. All Board members are elected at large and the Board then votes on the roles that each Board Member will serve.  All five Board positions are up for this year’s vote.

IMPORTANT DETAILS!

  • Any Full Member is eligible for election to the Board. To be eligible, send a short statement of interest to [email protected] no later than 10PM EST on Thursday, February 9th. In your statement of interest, tell MASH who you are and why you’re the right choice for the Board!
  • Nominees and their statements will be e-mailed on Friday, February 10th to all members.
  • Elections will take place at this meeting. Full Members will vote for their top five candidates (absentee ballots will be available for any member who cannot attend).
  • Full MASH members are eligible to vote.
