Homebrewers are invited to enter their brew in the second annual Motown Mash homebrew competition for a chance to win prizes and a chance to brew their recipe at one of New Jersey’s newest breweries.

Motown Mash, hosted by the Morris Area Society of Homebrewers, is open to 350 beer, mead and cider entries that will be judged using the 2015 BJCP Style Guidelines. Homebrewers can enter their beers through Oct. 24, and entries can be dropped off at several locations Oct. 9-24. The cost of each entry is $8.

Full competition rules and registration is available at www.mashnewjersey.com/competitions/motown-mash.

Judging and an awards ceremony will be held Nov. 7 at Nicole’s Ten in Randoph, where all are invited to celebrate New Jersey’s beer scene at For the Love of The Craft, a beer and food pairing event featuring brews made by three local breweries in collaboration with area homebrew clubs.

Beer judges will provide feedback for each beer entered and award medals to brews by style category. Winners will receive prizes, including homebrewing supplies, gift certificates, and a chance to brew their recipe at Manskirt Brewing Company in Hackettstown.

“Motown Mash is about celebrating the passion of homebrewers and their talent for beer making,” said Karl Weiss, MASH vice president and competition organizer. “It’s great to get so many people who share a love of the craft together in one place and we’re proud to have such great partners, including Nicole’s Ten, to help make it happen.”

Motown Mash’s goal is to provide entrants with top-quality feedback and to help put Morris County and New Jersey’s craft beer scene on the map. It launched in 2014, with 260 entries judges, 41 judges and 22 stewards, and more than 100 sponsors.

MASH is a Morris County-based homebrewing club dedicated to exploring and celebrating beer and brewing knowledge. The club meets at 7:30 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month. While our home base is Nicole’s Ten in Randolph, we regularly explore the area’s craft beer scene to host meetings and special events at bars and breweries.
